Jenna Przybysz

is a saxophonist, educator, improviser, and scholar currently located in the Bay Area. She is also a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at Stanford University.

Before moving to the Bay Area, Jenna was an active performer on the Chicago scene where she performed with a number of musical groups in addition to leading her own ensemble, the Przybysz Quartet. Her saxophone has taken her numerous places ranging from Jazz Club La Zorra Y El Cuervo in Havana, Cuba to back home by performing at the Chicago Jazz Festival. Her favorite on-going musical project is her re-imagining of Mary Lou Williams’s Zodiac Suite which she performed at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival in 2018. While grad school keeps her hiding behind books, she ventures out of the library to perform with the Stanford Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble led by Murray Low.

Jenna holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from DePaul University and a Master of the Arts in the Humanities from the University of Chicago.
